Barcelona, Spain – March 3, 2025 – Vicinity and NXP® Semiconductors have teamed up to develop an advanced 5G software stack optimized for industrial IoT, automation, and robotics. Built on the NXP 5G+ platform, this solution integrates industrial-grade i.MX applications processors, Layerscape® baseband processors, and NXP’s SN200E UICC/eSIM technologies to provide ultra-reliable, low-latency, and secure connectivity for mission-critical environments.
As demand for seamless, high-performance industrial communications grows, the need for 5G solutions capable of supporting real-time wireless automation, robotics, and industrial IoT has become more pressing. Vicinity’s 5G Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) software stack addresses these needs by enabling ultra-low-latency communications, ensuring seamless interoperability between private and public 5G networks, and facilitating advanced peer-to-peer networking.
With NXP’s i.MX applications processors and software-defined radio (SDR) technology, this solution empowers businesses to customize the system for specific applications, such as precise 5G positioning, synchronized IoT use cases, and direct device-to-device communications. The AI inference capabilities of the processor further optimize industrial automation, offering exceptional performance, flexibility, and security.
“We’re excited to collaborate with NXP to transform industrial connectivity,” said Eric Tsang, CEO of Vicinity. “By combining our 5G expertise with NXP’s advanced platform, we’re helping businesses unlock new levels of efficiency and innovation in industrial automation, paving the way for a more connected and intelligent future.”
Harsha Master, [Title] of NXP Semiconductors, added, “This collaboration advances the next generation of 5G solutions for industrial applications, combining our 5G+ platform and Vicinity’s software to deliver the ultra-reliable, low-latency connectivity needed for critical operations and shaping the future of automation and IoT.”
Vicinity and NXP will showcase this technology at MWC 2025. Attendees will have the opportunity to experience live demonstrations and engage in discussions about the future of 5G and its industrial applications. Meetings will take place in the NXP meeting room, with additional live demonstrations at the Vicinity booth in Hall 7, Booth 7A11.
